In the year 2007, Consultant Deepak founder of Prana Deepak, and a management adviser with over twenty-five years of experience, visited the Philippines for the first time. Since then, he had been impressed by the laughter of the Filipinos, a common trait of all of them. As a curiosity, he decided to know the secret of this laughter, and started exploring it during the year 2015. One TV news “the 4.5 million Filipinos are suffering with depression and other mental disorders. This is the figure of reported cases, however the real figure could be much higher”, had shocked him. Immediately, he got curious about his country India, other developing and  the developed countries of the world. His curiosity turned into research on the root cause of mental disorders in the Philippines and  India. Information about first world countries and developing countries was also collected from the reliable sources. Personal interaction with over five thousand people during professional career and informal interviews (online and personal) of over five hundred people from India, Philippines, UK, USA, Canada helped in establishing the conclusions. He found a deep connection between mental disorders and marital conflicts. He expanded his area of research accordingly. This research was majorly focused upon: (1) The root cause(s) of mental disorders and available preventive and remedial measures with their effectiveness. (2) Root cause(s) of the marital conflicts and the cause of increasing numbers of separation/broken families even in the countries where couples select a life partner after an understanding of minimum two to three years. He continued his research until the final conclusions were derived during the year 2018. The major findings were as follows:

1. The root cause of most of the miseries of life is the lack of the clarity of the fundamentals of life and its management to the human beings. The knowledge they possess is so unstructured that it is harmful than to be useful. Most of the people blame others for the miseries of their lives instead of introspection and personal development.

2. Marital conflicts/separation is one of the major causes of most of the miseries in the life of the spouses, children and other stakeholders. Mental and personality disorders, etc. are the outcome of this, in majority of the sufferers. Marital incompatibility is an identified cause. However, marital compatibility problem in the countries where couples decide to marry after two to three years of understanding is a great matter of the concern. On deep analysis, it was observed that the faulty procedure of the life partner selection is the root cause of the marital incompatibility.

3. Children of the broken families or who experience parents’ conflicts are more prone to mental disorders and personality disorders.

4. Most of the mental disorders (Stress, Anxiety, Depression-SAD) are usually life management disorders, and do not require any medical or psychological intervention.

5. Families having participative management culture face lesser miseries than the families with dictatorship culture or individualism.

6. The life management incompetence is the root cause of the underperformance and loss of the potential of a human. It is also an impediment to the human WELLBEING, i.e. Health (Physical, Mental, Emotional, Spiritual), Peace, Joy, Prosperity, Harmony, Contentment within and out, everyone has always been longing for, but could not be made possible.

The worst is that the human beings are struggling, but are not taking any corrective actions. Moreover, any formal structure of life management is not available to them. The ancient precious concept of the wholesome development of a child has been neglected without providing an alternate arrangement. The Prana Conscious Life Management Approach is an initiative in this direction.  In addition to the other fundamental advantages, this approach, if applied well can  reverse the global trends of the marital conflicts, mental disorders, personality disorders and a number of the other miseries of life. It can prove to be a boon to the humankind, if it is understood and applied holistically. This approach is based upon management fundamentals, is applicable universally, is easy to understand and easy to apply. The best part of this approach is that it also conforms and supports to the management of the universe.
